Product Description

The sE Electronics V BEAT is an ultra-compact dynamic microphone built for snare and tom drums. It delivers a highly detailed, natural sound with excellent off-axis rejection to keep nearby drums and cymbals out of the mix, while its low-profile design and precise swivel mount let you place it exactly where you need it.

Sound character

At the heart of the V BEAT is the custom DMC7 X capsule, sharing technology with the acclaimed sE V7 but custom-tuned for instrumental use. Aluminum is far lighter than the industry-standard copper, giving an open, transient-rich sound with deep, clear lows and a well-balanced midrange that supports the natural resonance of percussive instruments. The supercardioid pattern also lets you easily shape the bottom end via the proximity effect by adjusting distance to the drumhead. Neodymium magnets and tight production tolerances ensure excellent sensitivity and consistency unit to unit.

Design and mounting

The V BEAT integrates its XLR connector and stand mount in parallel on the underside of its flexible swivel mount, minimizing footprint, keeping cables out of the drummer's way, and removing any need for right-angle adapters or special cables. Paired with the V CLAMP accessory (sold separately), it becomes even more compact – the clamp adds another axis of movement for fine positioning and holds the mic securely to the drum rim with barely any added bulk.

The chassis is all metal: a durable die-cast zinc alloy body built to withstand years of on-stage use, a dent-proof, corrosion-free spring steel mesh grille, and a gold-plated XLR connector for a loss-free, reliable signal connection. The patented integrated capsule suspension decouples the capsule from mechanical vibration, shocks and jolts, eliminating the need for an external shock mount.

Windscreen

A red internal windscreen effectively reduces popping, plosives and wind noise. A black windscreen is also included as a standard accessory for those who prefer a more subtle look.

In the box

The V BEAT ships with a thread adapter, zipper pouch, spare black internal windscreen, sE logo sticker, user manual, and a knurled nut for third-party accessories.
