SE ELECTRONICS HB52 Harp Blaster
Product Description
The HB52 Harp Blaster is a dynamic harmonica microphone from sE Electronics, developed together with Hohner and shaped by input from professional harp players so it's comfortable to hold and cup for long periods. It delivers a high output level and impedance that drives your amp properly without extra boost pedals or impedance converters.
Instead of looking at competing products, sE and Hohner took their inspiration from a select group of professional players, aiming to build a mic that becomes a seamless extension of the artist's expression rather than an obstacle. The result is a compact, highly reactive capsule that responds directly to hand technique and musical nuance.
Sound and Construction
The capsule is dynamic with a copper voice coil and a neodymium magnet, offering a frequency range of 22 Hz - 16,000 kHz and a sensitivity of 17.8 mV/Pa (-35 dBV). The high output level and 45 kOhm electrical impedance drive your amp properly without any impedance converters, boost pedals or stomp boxes. The flat, sleek grille ensures a tight cup and facilitates powerful hand effects.
Volume Control and Connectivity
A built-in volume control uses a Bourns® potentiometer with a diamond-pattern knurled chrome knob for slip-proof, reliable adjustment – if you'd prefer no volume control, it can be disabled internally. Rather than an attached cable, 1/4" jack or screw-on connector, the HB52 uses a robust, gold-plated 3-pin male XLR connector for better connectivity and extra signal security if the cable gets tugged, snagged or stepped on. The XLR socket's internal locking mechanism can also be disabled if preferred.
Build Quality
The HB52 is hand-crafted at sE's own factory with an exclusive hammer-painted finish and a polished, chromatized grille that keeps its looks for years. It's built as a roadworthy tool that can take drops and kicks in the throes of a live performance.
Who It's For
A solid choice for gigging harmonica players who want a rugged microphone with high output and a comfortable shape, without needing extra electronics between mic and amp.
