Schlagwerk Coast Drum 16"
Coast Drum 16" from Schlagwerk, frame drum in beech with goatskin. Simulates rolling waves, great for sound baths and meditation.
Product Description
The Schlagwerk Coast Drum is a tunable frame drum measuring 16" (Ø 40 cm), filled with a mixture that simulates the rolling sound of waves on the beach or roaring surf against coastal cliffs. Built with a beech frame and goatskin, it's especially popular in therapeutic work, sound baths and meditation, but works just as well in classical frame drum playing.
Between the natural goatskin and a mesh material sits a finely tuned mixture of glass and steel balls. That combination creates the drum's characteristic, undulating wave sound as it's moved or tilted. If you want to reduce the intensity, the quantity of balls can be adjusted via a side screw, letting you control how pronounced the "surf" sound is.
Construction
The frame is made from 7-ply glued beech wood, and the drum is tunable with 8 tuning screws, letting you fine-tune the skin tension to taste. A tuning key is included.
Who It's For
The Coast Drum suits sound therapists, sound bath practitioners, meditation facilitators, or anyone who wants an organic, natural wave sound in their percussion playing.
