Schlagwerk Coast Drum 20"
Frame drum (Coast Drum) by Schlagwerk, 20" with goatskin head. Glass and steel balls create a wave sound, ideal for sound baths and meditation.
Product Description
The Coast Drum is a tunable frame drum from Schlagwerk, 20" (Ø 50 cm), with a goatskin head and a built-in filling of glass and steel balls that simulates the rolling of waves on the beach or the roaring surf against coastal cliffs. The drum is popular in therapeutic work, sound baths and meditation, but works just as well for classical frame drum playing.
The finely tuned mixture of glass and steel balls sits between the natural goatskin head and a mesh material. A side screw lets you reduce the amount of balls, letting you adjust the intensity of the wave sound to suit the moment, a calmer wash for relaxation or a more active roar for a livelier sound.
Tuning and Construction
The frame is built from 7-ply glued beech wood and the drum comes with a tuning key. It can be tuned using 10 tuning screws, giving you control over both tone and skin tension.
