Background and construction

Artisan pairs were developed at the request of leading percussionists looking to replace aging orchestral models, improving upon century-old cymbal designs. The line is available in Medium Light and Medium Heavy weights, in sizes 16" through 20". The surface combines traditional high-density hand hammering, which creates the Artisan's legendary "centuries-old" sound, with modern jumbo-peen dimpling on the underside. Each pair is individually hand hammered and crafted by master SABIAN artisans, producing a design suited to performing any repertoire.

Medium Heavy vs. Medium Light

Compared to Artisan Medium Light pairs, Medium Heavy pairs respond a bit more slowly but deliver a fuller, warmer tone with longer sustain. Medium Light pairs respond quicker with a splashier quality and shorter sustain.

Who It's For

A strong choice for orchestral musicians and percussionists who need a hand cymbal pair with clear articulation and control at loud dynamic levels, such as in symphonic works with powerful crash passages.
