The Roland VH-10 is a digital hi-hat controller built for Roland's V-Drums system, designed to feel and play like an acoustic hi-hat. It mounts on a standard hi-hat stand, just like a traditional hi-hat, so foot technique and stick playing feel familiar from the start.

The VH-10 consists of two pad sections – an upper and a lower part – that together sense how hard and where you play, as well as how open or closed the hi-hat is. This allows open, half-open and closed sounds, as well as foot splash, similar to an acoustic setup. The signal is sent to a connected sound module in the V-Drums system, which generates the actual hi-hat sound. This two-part design is what sets the VH-10 apart from a simpler cymbal pad – it gives you finer control over openness and dynamics than a fixed pad without foot articulation can offer.
