The PD-14DSX is Roland's digital snare pad for the V-Drums 7 Series – a 14-inch pad with ultra-detailed positional sensing and a real throw-off mechanism. Feel and Sensors

The multi-sensor trigger system and high-speed digital communication translate every nuance, from hard hits to the softest articulations. Hand position is automatically detected, allowing seamless transitions between headshots, rimshots, and cross-stick playing – just like on an acoustic snare. The pad also supports brush sweep playing.

Construction

A newly designed pad structure delivers a natural look and feel: a rubber hoop is set inside a triple-flange hoop, with rim height matching a standard acoustic snare. The head is a 3-ply mesh head with a floating mid-layer structure, tensioned with 8 tension rods.

Throw-Off Mechanism

The PD-14DSX is fitted with a real throw-off mechanism to turn the virtual snares on or off with a quick flip of a lever. A strainer knob lets you dial in snare tension with a twist, and the same knob includes a button for controlling assignable functions in the module.

Connectivity and Who It's For

The pad connects via a DIGITAL TRIGGER OUT plug and is compatible with Roland drum sound modules equipped with a DIGITAL TRIGGER IN port. It's powered directly through that connection (5 V DC, 120 mA) – no separate power supply needed.
