The Roland PD-140DS is a 14" digital snare pad with advanced multi-sensor triggering, delivering natural rebound and detailed dynamics. Connected digitally to Roland's TD-50 sound module (and compatible with TD-27), it's built for drummers who want the most realistic electronic snare experience available.

Roland continues to revolutionize electronic drums, and PD-140DS is no exception. It works directly with the powerful processing in the flagship TD-50 sound module to provide the ultimate in expressive drumming. Electronic drums have never felt so true to life.

The PD-140DS V-Pad combines snare tradition with highly advanced triggering and exceptional sensitivity, communicated to the TD-50 module via a high-speed digital connection. A brand-new, three-layer mesh head (with a floating mid-layer structure) is fitted to a standard 14-inch shell, providing natural rebound and feel that's instantly familiar to play. Thanks to Roland's new multi-element sensor system, your strokes across every area of the pad are detected more closely than ever before, and playing dynamics are captured in minute detail. In addition, traditional cross stick technique is automatically detected as the pad senses your hand position and adjusts accordingly. The result is snare sounds that are natural, detailed, and bursting with character.

Sensor system

The pad uses Roland's multi-element sensor system with a built-in sensing processor, consisting of a head sensor, three position sensors, a rim sensor and three cross stick sensors, together giving highly accurate stroke detection.

Connection and power

PD-140DS connects via a DIGITAL TRIGGER OUT plug and is compatible with Roland drum sound modules equipped with a DIGITAL TRIGGER IN port, such as the TD-50 and TD-27. The pad draws its power (DC 5V) directly from the DIGITAL TRIGGER IN port and consumes 90 mA.
