The Rogers DynaSonic Snare Rail system (item 4723) is the classic “floating” snare wire design that lets the wires rest freely against the head instead of pressing into it. The system comes complete with snare wires.
The design is based on a patent filed by Rogers product designer Joe Thompson on January 16, 1962. According to the patent application, the goal was to create a drum with “floating snares” that could be tensioned without putting pressure on the head. This works even on drums with no snare bed at all, the recessed area in the bearing edge that normally keeps the wires in place.
