Product Description

The Rebound 5B Acorn (RBH595AW) is a pair of hickory drumsticks with a wood Acorn tip, built to ProMark's Select Balance concept. The long, tapering neck shifts the balance point rearward, giving noticeably good rebound and a light, dynamic feel – ideal if you want control through fast passages without losing power.

The Select Balance Concept

ProMark builds the Select Balance sticks to unusually high standards: every pair is weight-matched to within 1.5 grams and pitch-matched to within roughly a quarter tone (about 6 Hz) between the two sticks. That matters a lot for rolls – mismatched pairs are audible immediately as unevenness in the sound.

The line is built around two base models: Rebound Balance (RB) and Forward Balance (FB). Rebound Balance, which this stick belongs to, has a longer, thinner neck (3") with the weight balance shifted rearward, giving extra rebound and a lighter playing feel. Forward Balance instead has a shorter, thicker neck (2.25") with the weight shifted forward for more power and durability.

Two Tip Types

The base models 7A, 5A and 5B each come with two tip options: Teardrop (T) and Acorn (A). They also differ slightly in the neck – Acorn Rebound models generally have a somewhat slimmer neck than the corresponding Teardrop Rebound models. This shows up in the article code as T or A, for example FBH535TW versus FBH535AW.

The long article code describes the stick's entire "DNA". RBH595AW breaks down to Rebound Balance (RB), hickory (H), 0.595" thickness (equivalent to 5B), Acorn tip (A) made of wood (W).

Manufacturing and Sustainability

ProMark operates its own sawmill and controls the entire process from log to finished stick. For every tree harvested, the company plants five new ones.

Who It's For

A good choice if you want strong rebound and a light feel for dynamic playing, rather than maximum power – for that, the Forward Balance models are a better fit.
