Will this bag fit your drum?

The size stated for a bag is not the bag's own dimensions but the size of drum that fits inside it. If you have an 18" floor tom or bass drum, get an 18" bag. Space for lugs and hoops is already accounted for. The exception is drums with large suspension mounts in the 8–13" range, where going one size up can help avoid stress on the mount. The same applies to depth: it's the drum's depth that's stated, not the bag's.

How do I know my drum's size?

A drum's size refers to the shell measurements, not the hoops or lugs. If unsure, remove a head and measure the shell's outer diameter and depth. A drum with a 13" diameter and 10" deep shell is called a 13"x10" drum, regardless of its overall size once fully assembled.
