Meinl Percussion Pickup Slap-Top - Mahogany
Meinl's T-shaped Slap-Top Cajon with mahogany slap plate and built-in pickup system, delivering snare, bass and conga-style tones.
Product Description
The Meinl Pickup Slap-Top Cajon is a T-shaped cajon with a mahogany slap plate and a built-in pickup system, designed to deliver several distinct drum sounds from a single body. It simulates snare drum, bass drum, conga and bongo, making it a compact percussion option that plugs in easily for stage use.
Construction and Sound
The slap plate is made of mahogany and features an internal snare wire set for the characteristic snare buzz. Bass and snare tones are accessed through separate sound holes on the T-shaped front, with the bass port facing the audience for better projection. The sides are built from eco-friendly fiberboard.
Built-in Pickup System
The cajon has a built-in pickup system (passive) with individual controls for snare, bass and tone. This lets you shape the sound quickly to suit the room or PA, which is especially useful when playing live and extra amplification is needed.
Playing Position
The Slap-Top Cajon is played standing, with the instrument resting on the knee, unlike a traditional cajon that you sit on. This makes it a good choice if you want to move freely while playing, for example in a smaller ensemble or acoustic setting.
