Vic Firth Peter Erskine "Big Band" SPE3
Product Description
The Vic Firth SPE3 is Peter Erskine's third signature stick, built for big band playing. It combines the shaft dimensions of a 5A and a 5B with a long taper for effortless rebound and the power needed to cut through a full big band.
Peter Erskine is a jazz icon known for his work with Weather Report and Steps Ahead, among others. Few drummers get a signature model with Vic Firth – Erskine has three. The SPE3 is the third in the series, with a slightly larger Tear Drop tip than the SPE2 and a slightly heavier shaft for extra power.
Construction
Made from hickory with a long taper, the mid-sized shaft delivers smooth rebound while still carrying enough power to cut through a full big band chart. The surface is lacquered. Sold per pair.
Who It's For
A solid choice if you play in a big band or other dense ensemble and want a stick that handles both finesse and power without feeling heavy in the hand.
