Product Description
A super lightweight 8" cuica with a goatskin head and an included sponge for grip on the inner bamboo rod. Rub the rod with the sponge while pressing the head with your other hand to produce the cuica's distinctive, pitch-bending tones.
The cuica is a friction drum: sound is produced by rubbing a bamboo rod attached to the inside of the head while pressing on the head from the outside with your other hand. Varying the pressure and the rubbing motion lets you shape different pitches and timbres, from deep grunts to squealing high tones.
The head is made of goatskin, and the drum is built super lightweight, making it comfortable to hold and play for longer stretches. The included sponge improves grip on the bamboo rod and makes the sound easier to control.
It's an unmistakable sound you've likely heard in several video games, including Goron City in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, as well as Snipperclips and Pikuniku.
