PDP Concept Black Wax 5.5x14" - Black Wax

Product Description

The PDP Concept Black Wax is a specialty snare drum built from a 10-ply European Maple shell, finished with a hand-applied, wax-based sealer in a dark, smooth, matte Black Wax finish. The shell produces a mid-range pitch with full attack and warm tone, while the wax sealant highlights the natural beauty of the Maple grain. A great choice if you want a warm-sounding, stable-tuning snare with a distinctive look.

• 10-ply European Maple shell
• Hand-applied, wax-based sealer that shows off the Maple grain
• PDP dual-turret lugs
• DW MAG Throw-Off and True Pitch tension rods for precise, stable tuning
• Fully-chromed snare wires with carbon steel coils and brass end plates
• Ships with Remo drum heads, ready to play right out of the box

Tone and Construction

The 10-ply Maple shell delivers a mid-range pitch with full attack and a warm overall tone, characteristic of Maple shells at this thickness. The hand-applied wax sealer is purely cosmetic, leaving the natural Maple grain visible rather than covering it under lacquer.

Tuning and Hardware

The drum is fitted with PDP's dual-turret lugs along with DW's MAG throw-off and True Pitch tension rods, giving it precise and stable tuning that holds over time. The snare wires are fully chromed, with carbon steel coils and brass end plates, for a clear and consistent snare response.

Who It's For

A good choice for players who want a warm, classic Maple tone paired with a subtle, understated finish and dependable tuning stability.
