PDP 20-Ply LTD Maple/Walnut Snare 5.5x14" - Natural Satin

Product Description

The PDP 20-Ply LTD Maple/Walnut Snare is a 5.5x14" snare drum built around an ultra-thick, 20-ply hybrid shell of maple and walnut. The thick construction produces a higher pitch and projection, delivering a fat, throaty sound with a pronounced attack.

Construction

The shell is built from 20 plies total: a core of 16 plies of European maple, with two plies of walnut on both the inside and outside (four plies of walnut in total). This thick, hybrid build is what gives the drum its higher pitch and stronger projection.

Hardware and heads

The drum is fitted with a DW MAG Throw-Off and PDP's distinctive dual-turret lugs. Tension rods are True Pitch type, and the drum ships with Remo drum heads. Finish is Natural Satin.

Sound character

Thanks to the thick hybrid shell, this snare produces a fat, throaty sound with a pronounced attack, cutting through the mix while keeping plenty of warmth in the low end.

Who It's For

A great choice if you want a snare with strong projection and a fuller, more distinct tone than a standard maple snare, without losing attack.
