Roland NE-10 Noise Eater

The Roland NE-10 Noise Eater is an isolation plate that sits under the kick pad/pedal or hi-hat control pedal of a V-Drums kit. It absorbs the impact and vibration that would otherwise travel through the floor when you play, making it possible to practise in an apartment or multi-storey building without seriously disturbing your neighbours.

How it works

Much of the noise from a digital drum kit doesn’t travel through the air at all – it’s the physical impact of your feet on the pedals that creates the dull thumping heard in the room below. NE-10 uses several dome-shaped rubber dampers to break that transmission path. Based on Roland’s own testing, it reduces disruptive noise by around 75%, which in practice can be the difference between only being able to play during the day and being able to play whenever it suits you.

Low profile, no impact on feel

The plate is compact with a low profile, so it doesn’t change how the pedal feels or performs under your foot. It fits under the kick pad/pedal and the hi-hat control pedal, and is easy to move if you rearrange your kit.

Works together with NE-1

For extra isolation, Roland also offers the NE-1, a smaller isolation foot sold separately that fits under the free-standing legs of a kick pad and hi-hat stand. It uses the same type of rubber damping structure and is designed to be used together with NE-10 units under the kick and hi-hat pedals for a more complete solution in multi-storey housing.
