Meinl Sonic Energy Solid Kalimba C Major 10-Notes - Zambesi Redwood
C major kalimba with a solid Zambesi Redwood body. Comes with case, cotton pouch, microfiber cloth and tuning hammer.
Product Description
The Meinl Sonic Energy Solid Kalimba is a thumb piano tuned to the C major scale, carved from a solid piece of Zambesi Redwood. The notes are arranged so every tone in the scale works together, making it hard to play a wrong note. A great choice if you want a simple, meditative instrument that needs no prior experience.
The kalimba, also known as mbira or sansa, is a traditional African instrument consisting of a resonance box with tuned metal tines mounted on top, played with the thumbs. On this model (KL1002FOL) the body is solid, meaning it's carved from a single piece of Zambesi Redwood, giving the instrument its distinctive resonance along with the decorative Flower Of Life design.
Tuning and note order
The kalimba is tuned to C major, and the tines are arranged in a harmonic sequence: e', c', a, f, d, c, e, g, b, d'. This order makes it easy to play melodic phrases straight away without thinking about scale steps.
What's included
The kalimba comes complete with a case, cotton pouch, microfiber cloth and tuning hammer, so you can protect the instrument, keep it clean and fine-tune the tines yourself.
