Meinl Sonic Energy Kalimba Sound Hole, 17 toner - Maple

Product Description

The Meinl Sonic Energy Kalimba Sound Hole in maple is a 17-tone kalimba with a soundport that gives a fuller, more open tone. All notes are tuned to C major in a harmonic sequence, so any combination of notes always sounds right together. A great choice if you want to play melodies and accompaniment right away, without having to think about scales.

The kalimba, also known as thumb piano, mbira or sansa, is a traditional instrument with roots in Africa. This version has a maple wood body with tuned metal tines played with the thumbs. The soundport in the body opens up the tone and adds resonance compared to a solid body.

The kalimba is tuned to C major with the notes d'', b', g', e', c', a, f, d, c, e, g, b, d', f', a', c'', e''. 17 tones in a harmonic sequence where the notes always complement each other.
