Meinl Percussion Solid - American Walnut
Solid American Walnut kalimba from Meinl, 17 keys in C major with built-in pickup. Plug straight into an amp or PA.
Product Description
The Meinl Solid Kalimba PKA17AW is a thumb piano made from solid American Walnut, tuned to C major with 17 keys and fitted with a built-in pickup. An acoustic instrument you can plug straight into an amp or PA. Equally good for quiet practice at home or playing on stage.
The kalimba, also known as a thumb piano, originates in Africa. It consists of a wooden block, a resonating body, fitted with tuned metal tines that are played by plucking them with the thumbs. Here the body is made from solid American Walnut, giving the instrument both weight and a warm tone.
Built-in Pickup
The PKA17AW has a built-in pickup, letting you amplify the instrument's acoustic sound directly through an amp or PA system without needing a separate microphone setup.
Tuning and Keys
The instrument has 17 keys and is tuned to C major. The keys, from the outer to the center tines, are: d'', b', g', e', c', a, f, d, c, e, g, b, d', f', a', c'', e''.
