Meinl Percussion CL5HW 8"/7" - Indian Walnut

Product Description

The Meinl Wood Claves Traditional is a pair of hardwood claves with a classic look, built for playing the foundational rhythms of Latin American music. The wood produces a strong, clear and resonant sound that cuts through even a full band mix.

The clave is sometimes called Latin music's "four four". It holds the same central role in a Latin American band as the snare drum does for a drummer, laying down the pulse the rest of the group plays against. A pair of claves is a natural part of any percussionist's setup, whether you play salsa, son, rumba or other Latin styles.

The pair consists of two sticks of different lengths (8" and 7") made from hardwood, in a finish the retailer lists as Indian Walnut. The density of the wood gives the sharp, distinct click claves are known for. A sound that cuts through without becoming harsh.

Who It's For

Suited for percussionists looking to add a traditional pair of claves to their setup, as well as drummers and musicians who want to bring authentic Latin American rhythm into their playing.
