Byzance

Byzance cymbals are made at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship built on deep skill and pride in the trade. Each cymbal is cast from B20 alloy (80% copper, 20% tin). The cast blank is heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully proven schedule until the right thickness is reached. The cymbal's bell is then shaped before hand-hammering forms the cymbal itself. Series with a lathed surface are hand-lathed before being shipped to Germany. Every step in this process has a decisive effect on the cymbal's tone and character, which is why, for example, a 16" Thin crash is made to a different pattern than the equivalent Heavy crash.

The raw cymbals are sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and finishing such as laser logo, brilliant finish and sandblasting. The combination of Turkish craftsmanship and German quality control and finishing is the key to Byzance's warm sound and consistently high standard.

Byzance comes in six variants. Traditional, Vintage, Jazz, Extra Dry, Dark and Brilliant. Each with its own unique sound and look.
