Product Description

The Meinl Byzance Foundry Reserve 20" Light Ride is an exclusive, hand-hammered ride cymbal made from B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin). It delivers a core-full sound with a shimmering top end and an open tone you can control through your touch. A flagship cymbal for players who value dynamics and expression.

• Exclusive, extensive hand-hammering with a wide range and dynamics
• Open sound that can be controlled by your touch
• Good crash properties. Blooms on accented hits but quickly returns to ride mode
• Great attack with controlled sustain and volume
• Made in Meinl's Turkish factory, quality-checked and finished in Meinl's German factory

Sound and Feel

The Byzance Foundry Reserve series is more heavily processed than any other Meinl series. Every hammer strike creates a nuanced sound with both shimmering overtones and dark depth. The series offers great dynamics and controlled sustain, so the clear, woody attack is never lost even as tempo or intensity increases.

Who It's For

The Light Ride works excellently in both studio and live settings, across genres where expressiveness and dynamics are top priorities. It's an exclusive cymbal that transcends genre, but is likely to be most appreciated in styles such as jazz, fusion, blues, funk and R&B.
