Meinl Byzance Brilliant 18" Trash Crash - B18TRC-B

Product Description

The Meinl Byzance Brilliant 18" Trash Crash is a hand-hammered crash cymbal in B20 bronze with a polished Brilliant finish. The holes give it quick response and a fast decay, with a trashy, shimmering sound suited to pop, rock, funk, D&B and fusion.

Sound and feel

Cast from B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin), the cymbal is shaped through traditional hand-hammering, giving it a soft, "buttery" feel under the stick. Despite the soft feel it has plenty of volume and a clear shimmer. The sound character is warm with medium sustain and medium volume, and the polished Brilliant surface contributes to a full tone with good dynamic range. Letting you control tone and volume through your stroke.

The trash holes

By removing material from the cymbal, sound moves through the metal faster and decays quicker, giving the fast response and quick decay that Trash cymbals are known for. The size, shape and placement of the holes also affect how trashy or dark the cymbal sounds.

Craftsmanship

The Byzance series is made at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional hand-craft methods. The cast B20 bronze blank is heated, rolled and cooled following a carefully proven schedule until the correct thickness is reached. The bell is then shaped, before hand-hammering gives the cymbal its final form. The top and bottom surfaces are hand-lathed before the cymbal is sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and finishing. Including laser-etched logo, Brilliant finish and sandblasting. The combination of Turkish craftsmanship and German quality control is key to the Byzance series' warm sound and consistent standard.

Who It's For

A great crash for players who want a broad sound spectrum with a warm character and quick response, across a range of musical settings. The model is also available in 16".

Other variants in the Byzance series

Byzance is also available in Foundry Reserve, Dual, Traditional, Vintage, Jazz, Extra Dry and Dark finishes, each with its own sound and look.
