Handmade Meinl Artisan Doumbek 8 3/4" in aluminum with mother-of-pearl inlay and mosaic decoration. Tuning key included.
Product Description
The Meinl Artisan Edition Doumbek AEED3 is a handmade doumbek from Egypt, made of aluminum with mother-of-pearl inlay and decorative mosaic artwork. Its synthetic head delivers deep bass tones as well as the loud, distinctive "doumbeck" sound. A great choice if you play music from the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia or Eastern Europe.
The doumbek is handmade in Egypt, combining traditional craftsmanship with ornate mosaic art and mother-of-pearl inlay on the aluminum shell. The head is synthetic, giving a stable, weather-resistant tone compared to natural skins.
Doumbek or darbuka?
The doumbek and the darbuka are closely related, but differ in how the head is attached and tuned: the doumbek has a more rounded shape, while the darbuka uses a more traditional tuning system.
A tuning key is included, so you can fine-tune head tension right away. If the head ever needs replacing, it's compatible with HEAD-136, HEAD-137 and HEAD-138. If you want a bag for storage and transport, MDOB, MDOB-L and MSTDOB fit this model. These are not included.
Who It's For
A great choice if you play or want to start playing music rooted in Egyptian and Middle Eastern traditions, and want an instrument with both fine tone and beautiful craftsmanship.
