Mapex MPX 14"x5,5" - Chrome

Product Description

The Mapex MPX 14" x5.5" is a snare drum with a chrome-plated 1mm steel shell, built to deliver clear attack and rich overtones at a very strong price point. The lugs are inspired by Mapex's higher-end series, and the Piston Strainer is borrowed straight from the Armory series.

The 1mm chrome-plated steel shell delivers a clear attack with a sharp cut through the mix and all the overtones you want from a snare drum. The lugs are designed to minimize contact with the shell, dampening as little as possible for an open, resonant tone.

Strainer and response

Piston Strainer is a nicely designed strainer mechanism borrowed from the Mapex Armory series. It runs smooth and quiet, and the snare response is lightning fast and clear with great dynamics.

Construction

The hoops are pressed 1.3mm triple flanged hoops, and the drum has 8 tension rods per side. The batter head is a Remo UX Coated Ambassador, and the snare wires have 20 strands. The finish is chrome, including the hardware.

Who It's For

Whatever level you play at, MPX is a genuinely good choice. A great-value snare drum that punches well above its price class.

About the MPX series
