Mapex MPX Maple/Poplar 12x6" - Gloss Natural

Product Description

The Mapex MPX 12" x 6" is a great value snare drum with a maple/poplar hybrid shell that brings warmth, solid crack and great feel together. It comes with a mounting bracket for versatile placement and Mapex's SONIClear Bearing Edges for easier tuning and more low end.

The 7.2mm Maple/Poplar Hybrid Shell combines two woods that complement each other, giving a precise and controlled attack along with plenty of warmth and versatility. The lugs are W-Mass Lugs, designed with minimal shell contact to preserve an open, resonant tone.

Throwoff and hardware

The drum uses the Mapex Armory Series Throwoff, running smooth and quiet. Hoops are 1.5mm Triple-Flange Hoops, and all hardware and fittings are chrome-plated. The drum is fitted with Remo® UX drum heads.

SONIClear Bearing Edges

SONIClear is Mapex's own bearing edge design, moving the head's contact point further toward the center of the shell and flattening it slightly compared to a traditional sharp edge. This makes the drum easier to tune, allows for lower tunings with more control, reduces the harshest overtones, and adds sustain along with extra low end and punch.

Mounting bracket

A mounting bracket is included, allowing versatile placement in any setup. For example on a hi-hat stand via a clamp. The tom arm/clamp itself is not included and must be purchased separately.

Who It's For

Whatever level you play at, the MPX is a strong choice. A great value snare drum with qualities usually found in more expensive series.
