Mapex MPX 10"x5,5" - Chrome

Product Description

The Mapex MPX 10"x5.5" is a snare drum with a chrome-plated 1 mm steel shell, built for players who want a great-value snare without compromising on sound or feel. The lugs are designed to minimize contact with the shell, damping as little as possible and giving the drum a clear, open tone.

The 1 mm chrome-plated steel shell delivers a clear attack with a sharp crack and plenty of overtones, exactly what you want from a snare drum in this class. The lugs take design cues from Mapex's more expensive series, both to blend visually into your kit and to reduce contact with the shell so as little tone as possible is dampened.

The snare mechanism is a Piston Strainer, a design borrowed from the Mapex Armory series. It runs unusually smoothly and quietly, giving a lightning-fast, clear snare response with great dynamics.

Construction

Shell, hoops and hardware are finished throughout in chrome. The hoops are triple-flanged, and the drum has 6 tension rods per side. The batter head is a Remo UX Coated Ambassador, and the snare wires have 20 strands. The drum has a mount for a clamp or tom stand.

Who It's For

Whatever level you play at, an MPX snare is a solid choice. A drum that holds up both in the rehearsal room and on stage, at a price that makes it an easy pick.
