The Mapex MBL909 is a bass drum raiser that lifts your bass drum about 50 mm off the floor. It sounds simple, but it genuinely changes the sound: raising the drum makes the beater strike closer to the centre of the head, giving more bottom and punch – especially noticeable on bass drums with a slightly smaller diameter. At the same time, tone and low end that would otherwise be swallowed by the floor are freed up, giving you a fuller, fatter sound out of the kick.

What makes the MBL909 a bit smarter than a basic riser is that it's adjustable in depth. That lets you dial in a good beater angle and a playing feel that suits you, regardless of how you normally angle your pedal.
