Mapex Black Panther Nucleus 14"x5,5" - Piano Black

Product Description

The Mapex Black Panther Nucleus is a 14"x5.5" snare drum with a maple/walnut/maple shell, developed together with several of the artists Mapex works with. It pairs a hand-built shell with professional-grade hardware for a focused, driving tone right in the center of the mix.

The Black Panther series was created in close collaboration between Mapex and a number of the artists they work with, who shared their knowledge of materials, function, sizes and looks. The result is a series of drums that stand out visually and sound just as distinctive.

Construction

The shell is built from 8 plies, 8.1 mm thick, with maple on the outer layers and walnut in the middle plies (Maple/Walnut/Maple). The walnut center gives a slightly more organic character than a pure maple shell. The bearing edge is Mapex's SONIClear Bearing Edge at 45 degrees.

Hardware

The hoops are Mapex Sonic Saver Hoops and the lugs are Staggered 1/8" Offset Locking B-Lugs, staggered around the shell for even tension distribution. The strainer is a Cylinder-Drive Strainer, and all hardware is chrome-plated. The drum ships with Remo Ambassador heads.

The Piano Black finish gives the drum a glossy, elegant look that matches the rest of the Black Panther series.
