Mapex Cherry Bomb BPCW4600CNW 14"x6" - Natural Satin SAS

Product Description

The Cherry Bomb is Mapex Black Panther's 14"x6" snare drum built with a cherry wood shell. The soft cherry construction delivers a warm, focused tone and a punchy backbeat with vintage character, built with modern precision and reliability.

This model (BPCW4600CNW, Cherry Bomb) is a re-imagined and optimized version of the original, engineered in the Mapex Black Panther Design Lab using a "Concept Hybrid" approach to sound design, shell composition and drum construction.

Sound Character

The softer cherry construction absorbs higher overtones, delivering a warm, focused tone and a punchy low-end backbeat. The sound is pre-EQ'd with strong response in the 400-600 Hz range for a strong low-end, while a boost in the 5-7 kHz range enhances the punch on top, giving a vintage tone suited to classic and alt-rock styles.

Construction

The build is an 8-ply, 9 mm cherry drum with dual air vents. The bearing edges use the 45° SONIClear cut with ⅜" rounded back-cuts on both the batter and snare side, letting the drumhead sit flatter with better contact against the wood. The result is a clearer fundamental pitch, effortless tuning and a significantly expanded tuning range. The snare beds are tapered, 2.7mm deep and 5.5" wide. Hoops are Sonic Saver 10-lug in a chrome finish.

The wires are Puresound Custom Series 16-Strand, medium-gauged stainless steel coils with copper end-plates, evenly spaced for a balance between snare response and the drum's own resonance. The Cylinder-Drive Strainer and Butt-End Adjuster run on a self-lubricating bearing for smooth operation, and the adjustment dial uses "micro-lock" technology that keeps the wires from loosening during play.

The drum ships with a Remo Ambassador X as the batter and a Remo Clear Ambassador on the snare side, finished in Natural Satin SAS with chrome hardware.

Who It's For

A great choice if you want a snare with a warm, vintage-inspired voice but modern tuning stability and reliable hardware, particularly for classic rock and alt-rock playing.
