Product Description
The Ludwig Neusonic Downbeat in Titanium Sparkle is a complete maple/cherry drum kit, built at Ludwig's own factory in Monroe, North Carolina, USA. Designed for the high-velocity working drummer, it delivers wide-range tuning, a lightweight build, and authentic USA-made quality without a flagship price tag.
Shell Construction
The shell is a 7-ply crossover design made up of a 4-ply maple exterior and a 3-ply cherry interior, measuring 5.5 mm thick. This design produces full-range tuning and optimum sustain. The source material also lists an alternate shell specification for the same series. 6-ply, 5 mm. See Specifications.
Bearing Edge and Construction
Neusonic series shells feature a single 45-degree bearing edge with a 1/16" back cut, offering wide-range tuning ability and optimal sustain. All shells are produced using R.F.S.T (Radio Frequency Shell Technology), a process using Ludwig's original bladder molds from the 1960's. Its unique bonding system, combined with a specialized adhesive, cures each shell evenly over its entire surface. According to Ludwig, a principal ingredient of the classic "Ludwig Sound."
Heads
The kit comes standard with Evans USA heads: G1 Coated batter and G1 Clear reso on the toms, plus EQ4 batter and EQ3 reso on the bass drum. Neusonic snare drums use G1 Coated batter and Hazy 300 resonant heads. Note this particular configuration does not include a snare drum.
Finish
This kit comes in Titanium Sparkle, one of seven finishes available across the Neusonic series.
