Product Description
The Ludwig LB454R is a raw brass shell snare drum with an un-plated brass shell that gives every drum its own unique, earthy look. No two shells are alike. It shares the character of Ludwig's classic Black Beauty but with just enough dry response, and an unforgettable look of its own.
According to Ludwig, the shell is an un-plated brass shell at approximately 1mm thickness, giving it the raw, unfinished surface that makes each shell unique. The specification also lists the shell as a 1.2mm seamless brass shell with black nickel plating. A detail that differs somewhat from the raw, unplated description (see notes). The shell is fitted with 2.3mm steel triple-flanged hoops, adding to the drum's focused, controlled tone.
The drum features Ludwig's P88AC throw off and P35P butt plate, along with 10 lugs for tuning stability. It ships with a Ludwig Weather Master Medium Coated batter head and a Ludwig Weather Master Clear snare side head.
