Product Description
The Ludwig Black Beauty is one of the most legendary snare drums ever made, built from a single sheet of brass machine drawn into a seamless beaded shell. It delivers a warm, round metallic tone that is often imitated, but never duplicated.
The shell is machine drawn from a single sheet of brass into a seamless, beaded shell. A truly unique and difficult manufacturing process that means only a very limited number of Black Beauties are produced by Ludwig USA each year. The result is a true American original with a sound that has defined studio and stage tone for decades.
Construction and Sound
The seamless brass shell is 2mm thick and Black Nickel plated. It's fitted with 3mm steel triple flanged hoops and 10 Imperial lugs, giving the drum a stable, powerful tone with plenty of sustain.
The drum ships with Ludwig Weather Master heads: a medium coated batter head and a clear snare side head. The snare mechanism is Ludwig's P88AC throw off paired with a P35P butt plate for fast, precise control of the snare wires.
