Ludwig Super Brass 14"x6.5" - Lacquered brass

Product Description

The Ludwig LB403 Super Brass is a brass-shell snare drum, 14" in diameter and 6.5" deep, fitted with nickel-plated hardware. A classic build with a modern touch, suited for both studio and stage.

Heritage and tonal character

The Super Series from Ludwig originated in the 1960s, once described as "the answer to every drummer's dream". The LB403 Super Brass carries that legacy forward with a lacquered brass shell and nickel-plated hardware, delivering clear, powerful and musical tones.

Construction and materials

The shell is seamless brass, approximately 1.2 mm thick, giving warmth with clarity that cuts through the mix. The drum measures 14" in diameter and 6.5" in depth. The hardware features Ludwig's P88 throw-off and P35 butt plate for precise control of the snare wire tension.

Playability and expression

The 6.5" depth gives fuller body and a broader attack than a typical 5" snare, adding presence and impact in the mix. The brass shell retains excellent responsiveness and dynamics, from subtle ghost strokes to bold accents.

Applications

This snare suits stage, studio and all-round drummers looking for a professional instrument with both power and finesse. Rock, pop, funk or fusion. The lacquered brass finish also makes it a visual standout behind any kit.
