Ludwig Classic Maple is a maple shell pack finished in Vintage White Marine, built for drummers who want a kit that performs in any setting. The series has been a professional favorite for over 20 years thanks to its full tonality, rich sustain and exceptional versatility. Shells are hand-crafted at Ludwig USA in Monroe, North Carolina.

Shell Construction

The shell is built from 7 plies of maple at a total thickness of 6mm. Its center core panel consists of three plies laminated in a horizontal/vertical/horizontal grain bond to a thickness of 2.4mm, sandwiched between inner and outer two-ply panels. The shells are formed using Ludwig's proprietary RFST (Radio Frequency Shell Technology) process, a method built on the company's historic bladder molds dating back to the late 1960s. The technology cures the bonding evenly across the entire shell surface and is, according to Ludwig, a key ingredient in creating the signature "Ludwig Sound" in every shell.

Bearing Edge

Each drum's bearing edge is cut to a 45-degree angle, within 1/16" of the outer edge. This profile allows for a wide tuning range and maximum sustain. The edge is hand-sanded to ensure a smooth, even, flat surface for easy head seating.
