The Classic Maple Mod is Ludwig's classic maple shell pack in a modified configuration, finished in Vintage Black Oyster. The shell delivers full tonality, rich sustain and exceptional versatility, making it a strong choice across studio and stage settings.

Classic Maple series drums have been the professional choice for over 20 years, using a shell-building process refined through more than a century of drum making. Hand-crafted at Ludwig USA in Monroe, NC.

Shell

The shell is built from a standard 7-ply, 6mm maple construction. Its center three-ply core panel, 2.4mm thick, is laminated in a horizontal/vertical/horizontal grain bond and inserted between inner and outer two-ply panels using Ludwig's proprietary RFST (Radio Frequency Shell Technology) molding process. The method uses Ludwig's historic bladder molds dating back to the late 1960s together with a specialized, time-tested adhesive that cures each shell evenly over its entire surface. A process Ludwig describes as a principal ingredient in the signature "Ludwig Sound".

Bearing Edge

Each drum's bearing edge is cut to a 45-degree angle within 1/16" from the outside edge, a profile that supports a wide tuning range and maximum sustain. The edge is hand-sanded to a smooth, even, flat surface for easy head seating.

Hardware

The 22"x18" bass drum features Mini Classic Lugs, Classic Claw Hooks and Elite Spurs. The 16"x16" floor tom features Mini Classic Lugs, Triad Brackets and 12mm legs. The 10"x8" and 12"x9" toms feature Mini Classic Lugs and Atlas Mount.
