The Ludwig Classic Maple Fab is a 3-piece shell pack in 7-ply maple finished in Vintage White Marine. The series has been a professional choice for over 20 years thanks to its full tonality, rich sustain and exceptional versatility, making it equally at home on stage or in the studio.

Shell and Construction

The shells are built from 7 plies of maple to a 6mm thickness. The center panel is a 3-ply core, laminated in a horizontal/vertical/horizontal grain bond to a 2.4mm thickness, inserted between inner and outer two-ply panels through Ludwig's proprietary RFST (Radio Frequency Shell Technology) molding process. This process uses historic bladder molds dating back to the late 1960s, curing each shell evenly over its entire surface for increased stability. The bearing edge is cut to a 45-degree angle within 1/16" from the outside edge and hand-sanded for a smooth, even, flat surface that makes head seating easy and delivers a wide tuning range with maximum sustain.
