The Ludwig Classic Maple Fab in Red Sparkle is a maple shell pack with a 22"x14" bass drum, 16"x16" floor tom, and 13"x9" tom. The shells deliver full tonality, rich sustain, and exceptional versatility, making the kit equally at home in the studio or on stage.

The Classic Maple series has been the professional choice for over 20 years, prized for its full tonality and versatility across performance settings. The drums are hand-crafted at Ludwig USA in Monroe, NC, using a process refined through more than a century of drum making.

Shell

Classic Maple's standard shell is 7-ply, 6mm. Its center three-ply core panel is laminated in a horizontal/vertical/horizontal grain bond to a 2.4mm thickness, and is inserted between inner and outer two-ply panels through Ludwig's proprietary RFST (Radio Frequency Shell Technology) molding process. The process uses Ludwig's historic bladder molds, dating back to the late 1960s. R.F.S.T.'s unique bonding system, combined with a specialized, time-tested adhesive, cures each shell evenly over its entire surface, increasing stability and forming a principal ingredient in the signature Ludwig Sound.

Bearing Edge

Each drum's bearing edge is cut to a 45-degree angle within 1/16" from the outside edge. This profile is critical for a wide tuning range and maximum sustain. The edge is hand-sanded for a smooth, even, flat surface that makes head seating easy, the final touch that completes the unmistakable Ludwig Sound.
