The Ludwig Acro Copper is a 14x6.5" snare drum built around a 1mm seamless USA copper shell. It continues the Acrolite legacy from 1964 in a new alloy, finished in brushed copper with 10 small twin lugs for a well-balanced tone and strong projection.

Background and Build

The Acrolite snare drum was originally introduced in 1964 as a student-level aluminum snare, but over more than 50 years it has earned a reputation for professional-level build standards and performance. The Acro Series is the next chapter in that legacy, now offered in two new alloys: copper and brass. This model features a 1-piece seamless phonic shell in copper, 1mm thick, finished in brushed copper.

The format is drawn from the elusive 6.5x14" NYC Board of Education Acrolite of the 60s and 70s. Like that original, it uses a 10-twin lugs format, giving even tension distribution around the head for a well-balanced tone and good projection.

Throw-Off and Butt

The drum is fitted with a P86 throw-off and P35 butt plate, Ludwig's proven hardware for reliable snare engagement.
