22" Istanbul Mehmet Tony Williams Ride JR Ride Cymbal

Product Description

The Istanbul Mehmet Tony Williams Ride JR is a 22" signature cymbal made in tribute to drum legend Tony Williams. It's built to cut through and be heard in a heavy, electric band sound while still keeping the dark, trashy and deeply expressive cymbal sound that became Williams' trademark.

Towards the end of his tenure with Miles Davis, Tony Williams had already begun to use a heavier ride cymbal to compete with his mentor's increasing use of electric instruments. But for the all-out electronic assault of his own Lifetime group, Williams needed a ride cymbal that could cut through and be heard yet at the same time would still retain the deeply expressive, darker, trashier cymbal sounds that had become his trademark.

Legacy

In tribute to that epic era in Tony's evolution, the artisans at Istanbul Mehmet bring you the next phase in the Tony Williams Tribute Cymbal series.

Who It's For

A good choice if you want a ride cymbal that holds its own in a heavy, electric band sound while still delivering a dark, trashy character rather than a bright, clean ride tone.
