22" Istanbul 61st Anniversary Classic Ride Cymbal

Product Description

The 61st Anniversary Classic Ride is a 22" traditional Turkish ride from Istanbul Mehmet with a dark, controlled sound. A small, very smooth bell bridge gives a focused bell, while the cymbal overall offers limited overtones and a woody stick definition.

The cymbal marks an anniversary release honoring Mehmet Tamdeger's more than 60 years in cymbal making. He began learning this ancient Turkish craft at age nine under Mikael Zilcan (grandson of Kerope Zilcan) and Kirkor Kucukyan. A tradition with a history stretching back to the early 17th century. Mr. Tamdeger remains proud that original, traditional Turkish cymbals are still being made for today's modern music.

Sound and Feel

The sound is dark with clearly limited overtones, giving a focused, controlled character rather than an open, washy spread. Stick definition comes through clearly and is described as "woody". A warm, organic attack rather than a bright, metallic ping. The small, very smooth bell bridge keeps the bell tight and controlled.

Who It's For

Ideal for drummers who want a traditional, hand-crafted Turkish ride with a dark, controlled sound and clear but warm stick definition. Rather than a bright, overtone-rich cymbal.
