20" Istanbul Mehmet 61st Anniversary Vintage Ride Cymbal
Product Description
The Istanbul Mehmet 20" 61st Anniversary Vintage Ride carries on the old Turkish cymbal-making tradition. It has a small, very smooth bell bridge, a dark sound with limited overtones, and clear, woody stick definition. A great choice if you want a ride with real character rather than a bright, modern, overtone-heavy sound.
At the age of nine, Mehmet Tamdeger began working for Mikael Zilcan, the grandson of Kerope Zilcan. Mikael Zilcan and Kirkor Kucukyan taught Mr. Tamdeger every aspect of this ancient Turkish art, with a history that stems back to the early 17th century. After completing a very busy 60 plus years at cymbal making, Mr. Tamdeger is very proud that they are still making original, traditional Turkish cymbals for today's modern music.
Sound and Feel
The bell has a small, very smooth transition into the bow, giving a soft, seamless character to the sound rather than sharp edges. The overall voice is dark with limited overtones, keeping the sound focused rather than washy. Stick definition is described as woody, meaning each stroke stands out clearly within the wash.
Who It's For
Suited to players who want a ride with genuine, traditional Turkish character and a dark, controlled sound with clear stick definition, rather than a bright, open, overtone-heavy modern ride.
