Indiependent MIDI is a MIDI pack from Toontrack featuring close to 400 individually played grooves and fills performed by drummer Thomas Hedlund. It brings the feel of indie pop and rock straight into your drum production, working with EZdrummer, EZdrummer 2, Superior Drummer 2 and Superior Drummer 3.

Thomas Hedlund has played with bands such as French Grammy Award-winning Phoenix, Sweden's The Perishers, Deportees, Khoma and Cult of Luna, and that range shows in the material. He built the pack on a free, boundary-pushing idea of what a groove actually needs. Sometimes eighth notes on the hats, sometimes none at all. The result is a groove collection that works well beyond just the indie genre.

Content and use

The pack contains approximately 375 individually played files in 4/4 and 6/8, performed in a straight feel. Song structure is categorized folder by folder (intro, verse, chorus, bridge and so on), so you can quickly find the right groove for the right section. Tempos range from 71 to 143 BPM.

The MIDI files are optimized for a setup of 1 kick, 1 snare, 1 tom, 1 floor tom, 2 crash cymbals and 1 ride cymbal, but work in other configurations too. Please note this is the same MIDI content included in the Indiependent SDX. No need to get both if you already own the SDX.

Who It's For

A good choice if you produce indie pop or indie rock and want authentic, human-played grooves instead of programmed patterns, or if you simply want to expand your library with a drummer known for thinking outside the box.
