Product Description
The Meinl Headliner African Djembe is a hand-carved drum in solid mahogany with a natural goat head, built for warm, full-bodied percussion tone. The gouged surface isn't just decorative. It also makes the djembe easy to hold securely between the knees while playing.
The shell is carved from one solid piece of plantation-grown Mahogany Wood (Swietenia macrophylla), giving a stable and resonant tone. The surface features a gouged texture reminiscent of sun-dappled water, which besides its looks also improves grip against the legs during play.
The head is hand-selected goat skin, secured using the traditional Mali-weave system with runners of pre-stretched PP nylon rope, 4 mm thick, using 16 runners for even and stable tuning.
