Hand Picked Flat Skin 19" (to 11" Quinto)

Product Description

The LP221A is a hand-picked conga head made of untanned buffalo hide, 19" (to 11" Quinto), from Latin Percussion (LP). It's a great option if you want to upgrade an entry-level conga or bring back a drum for which no factory head is available anymore. The workpiece is vendor independent and can be mounted to virtually any shell and rim.

This is a genuine craftsman's workpiece, hand-picked, not a standardized factory head. The thickness is approx. 1.5 mm, the same thickness LP uses for both conga and tambora heads, giving a head with good spring and natural tone.

Delivery and mounting

The head is supplied as an untanned raw workpiece, without a metal ring and without skin wires. You mount it using the metal ring from your old head. Prepare the workpiece and the old ring by soaking them in warm water for about 8 hours. This makes it easier to remove the old metal ring and gives the workpiece the consistency it needs to shape correctly around the rim.

Size and compatibility

The stated size is downward compatible, meaning the head fits shells up to the stated crown diameter. If you need skin wires for the head, LP Skin Wires are available separately, for both X and LP Traditional conga rims.
