Construction and Sound

The shells are built from 7 plies of maple with a 30° bearing edge, a construction that gives the Renown series its characteristic open tone. The Silver Sealer coating on the inside of the shells is Gretsch's own method for sealing the wood and supporting even resonance. The hoops are Gretsch 302 steel, which hold tuning well and give a clear attack.

Mounting and Hardware

The toms hang in Gretsch's Low Profile mounting system, which reduces the contact area with the shell for freer resonance. The bass drum uses the same principle with round Gretsch tom brackets. All hardware is chrome-plated, and the heads are Remo.

What's Included

The set ships with a double tom holder and includes the following shells: 10" x 7" tom, 12" x 8" tom, 14" x 14" floor tom, and 20" x 16" bass drum. Cymbals and any hardware beyond what's listed are not included.

Who It's For

A solid choice if you want to build your own drum set from the ground up, with Gretsch's classic maple construction and sound as your foundation.
