Recording and Tone

Recorded using a classic technique where an extra layer of felt is applied directly to the strings that the hammers strike, the overall tone of this instrument has a much quieter attack and a warmer, more intimate resonance compared to a traditional piano. The room in which it was captured is moderately small, adding to its almost visceral timbre.

Microphones and Presets

To capture every tonal aspect possible, one mono microphone as well as three different stereo pairs of carefully selected microphones were used. These microphone options are represented across all presets, ranging from subtle and sensitive to fuller and richer, always retaining the soft attack.

Who It's For

A good choice if you want a piano with a warm, intimate and slightly worn character rather than a polished concert tone. Works especially well for acoustic productions where a softer, more laid-back piano sound is called for.
