It ships with preset mappings for various e-kits, so it usually sits right from the start. Velocity response matches how hard you play, and hi-hat control follows half-open positions. You record straight into the software and edit freely afterwards, swapping a snare or cymbal without replaying the take.

The sound

The seven kits range from studio, singer-songwriter and classic pop to modern rock, vintage rock and hip-hop, captured in three rooms, with additional snares, kicks, cymbals and a wide percussion selection. Two preset libraries are included: Michael Ilbert's director's cut mixes with varied microphone setups, and Toontrack's genre presets from minimalistic to edgy.

When you want to build the drum track in the computer

If you are not recording yourself, the full songwriting toolset is there. Drag in audio or MIDI and Bandmate suggests a groove. Hear the rhythm in your head? Tap it in with Tap2Find. Building from scratch? Pen the groove in the Grid Editor, then let Song Creator turn the parts into a song.

The MIDI library is organized by song part: intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus and so on. It spans pop and soul through metal and hip-hop, in the time signatures and feels listed below, plus pick-ups, endings and patterns for tambourine, shaker, claps, snaps and cowbell.
