Product Description
The Evans EQ4 Clear is a single-ply bass drum batter head with a built-in muffle ring that tames unwanted overtones without killing the tone. The result is a clear, controllable attack that works well across rock, pop and studio recording.
Built from a single film, the head keeps an open, natural fundamental, while the surrounding muffle ring removes the harshest overtones that can otherwise make a bass drum hard to mix. The width of the ring isn't fixed – it scales with head size, so a 26" batter has a wider ring than a 16".
Available Sizes
The head comes in 16", 18", 20", 22", 24" and 26" – pick the size that matches your bass drum in the variant selector. Note this is a batter head, not a resonant head.
Who It's For
A good choice if you want a controlled but still lively bass drum tone without adding separate muffling. The 16" version is worth calling out specifically – it works great as a batter head for a Ludwig Breakbeat and similar small-format kits.
